Troubleshooting the problems that come up most

Seven common failures, the real cause of each, and the action that resolves it — without guessing and without refreshing for its own sake.

Every problem here comes with its actual cause and the action that fixes it. If an error message is on screen, it is almost always more precise than any guess — it is worth reading to the end before trying again.

The broadcast will not start

Four causes cover nearly all of it:

A title is not required for a live broadcast — there is a default. An oversized thumbnail is not a blocker either: it is resized automatically before being sent to YouTube.

One destination failed and the rest worked

The broadcast continues. One destination failing does not bring down the others; only if every destination fails does the broadcast return to idle.

What you will see: a message naming the destinations that did not go live, a red card beside the channel with a retry button, and a count of channels with errors.

A background check looks for a destination that dropped and tries to restore it on its own, for a limited number of attempts. You are notified when recovery starts, when it succeeds, and if it did not — with advice to check the connection or restart the broadcast.

The most common cause is an expired permission. If the message talks about reconnecting, that is your answer.

The video freezes

The most common cause is not the network but the browser. Chrome puts the video decoder to sleep in a hidden tab, and the broadcast or recording quietly suffocates. There is a mechanism that wakes the players every couple of seconds and detects a frozen picture, but the practical rule has not changed: do not minimise the window and do not switch the display off mid-broadcast.

While broadcasting, a health indicator shows a score and a count of recoveries. A drop in it before the picture freezes is usually bandwidth. You can lower the resolution or bitrate in the quality settings.

If the preview never arrives but the broadcast itself is live, that is a preview problem only, and there is a retry button.

An upload fails

If you upload several files at once and see a message that uploads are already running, they queue automatically and there is nothing to do.

The captions look wrong

Most cases handle themselves: a Latin font is substituted with a Hebrew face of similar character, punctuation is placed on the correct side, size is measured from the preview, and lines are capped at two.

The case that needs action from you is a font you picked by hand. An explicit choice of yours is not overridden, so a Latin font you selected stays Latin in Hebrew too. Choose a font that covers Hebrew, or return to the template.

If captions in an exported file lag behind the preview, export again — timings are aligned to the edit at export time.

The export is slow or stuck

Exports run on the server, one at a time per person, up to twenty an hour. If you start another before the previous one finishes, a message says the earlier one is still running.

The slowness is structural: the file goes through several encoding passes. The longer the video and the higher the resolution, the longer it takes.

When it is genuinely stuck: no progress for half an hour. The system marks such a job failed by itself, and you can then start again. An export already under way cannot be cancelled mid-run; starting again means a new export.

A file will not delete

This is a protection rather than a fault. Two reasons:

  1. The file is being broadcast now, or is scheduled to be. Stop the broadcast, or cancel the schedule, then delete.
  2. Editing projects were built from it. Deleting would leave them with no footage. The message says how many projects depend on it; delete those first.

A delete that succeeds also removes the file from storage, not just the row in a list. Files used by active jobs are protected from automatic cleanup too, so future work does not discover its source has vanished.

Frequently asked questions

I got a plan-limit message while going live

The message states the exact figure and the ceiling. You can upgrade, reduce the number of ticked channels, or wait for the next billing cycle.

Facebook did not go live but YouTube did

That is by design — one failed destination does not bring down the others. Check the red card beside the channel; if it says reconnect, the permission expired.

My upload stopped part way

Uploads are split into parts and retry by themselves. A full stop after half a minute without progress is almost always an unstable connection. Try again from where it stopped.

I cannot delete a video

Either it is being broadcast or scheduled — stop or cancel first; or editing projects were built from it — delete those first. The message tells you which.
